Women do get to vote, but getting to the top of the political hierarchy is still extremely difficult for them in most parts of the world, even in the US. They get catcalled on the roads, rape is on the rise, girls’ parents are still paying dowry, and female infanticide is still a reality. There is still sexism everywhere – at work, in family meals, in colleges, on the streets. We are in 2018, and while a lot has changed, true equality is still a very, very long way off. ....
Humanitarian and displacement situation in Al-Jawf governorate, Yemen Format OVERVIEW | 29 April 2021 Escalation in hostilities since the beginning of 2018 in Yemen’s northern province of Al-Jawf governorate has left at least 189,340 displaced Yemenis and members of hosting communities in acute need of humanitarian assistance. Most of these people are displaced from areas in Al-Hazm, Al-Khalaq, Al Ghayl, Bart Al-Anan and Khab Wa Al-Sha’af districts where fighting was more intense. According to UN-OCHA statistics, Al-Jawf is also home to some 125,5000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Hajjah, Hudaydah, Sa’ada and Marib governorates. Displacement movement from Marib to Al- Jawf is ongoing following the recent escalation in violence. Some 53 families displaced from Marib at the beginning of April 2021 have arrived in Al-Ghayl district – Yam Mountain, most of them arriving with no belongings, citing increase in hostilities and intense airstrikes as t ....
April 27, 2021 Greiner Packaging is capitalising on the reopening of the hospitality sector with the launch of an rPET cup for beer and other drinks. Made from 100 per cent recycled rPET as standard, the cup can also be modified to include 30 to 50 per cent rPET, if requested. An initial sample batch is currently available. The cup is able to accommodate a number of printing options to aid visual appeal, Greiner said. It can also be embossed with the required EU markings, the European packaging manufacturer added. From 3 July 2021, ‘cups for beverages’ that are placed on the market in the EU will be required to bear an informative marking in accordance with the Single-Use Plastics Directive. This will be a specific symbol in a particular shape, size, and colour, with text in the language of the country in which the cup is being marketed. ....
23 Apr 2021 Conservative author and journalist Michelle Malkin has been censored by Google-owned YouTube, causing Malkin to declare that a “purge” of her content is underway. She is posting the censored content on Bitchute a video hosting platform that is pro-free speech, and is also posting the content to her Gab account. Malkin said YouTube is targeting episodes of her regular online show, MalkinLive. She shared a message from YouTube declaring that an interview had been censored for “medical misinformation.” The video is an interview with two mothers from Colorado who are fighting for religious and philosophical exemptions from local vaccine mandates. ....
