Mohomad Fares, former owner of the Kabab King food truck, is leaving the food truck behind and upgrading his selling of authentic Mediterranean food into a restaurant and market at 1609 E. 10th St. He s also partnered with Yasin Alderani, 67, in this next venture who is originally from Syria. “Sioux Falls doesn’t have this kind of restaurant. We’re going to serve them from our heart,” Fares said. The Kabab King Restaurant & Market, opened Monday at 10 a.m. and afterwards will operate 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday, according to Fares. ....
Poke Picks reopens as Fancy Bowl ; halts restaurant expansion plans Poke Picks, a Japanese-Hawaiian fusion restaurant, reopened its downtown location Tuesday, but with a new name and menu. The restaurant at 323 S. Phillips Ave. is now named Fancy Bowl, with Poke Picks owner Kent Chan adding a business partner, Eason Chen, for the downtown location. The menu will include poke and sushi, along with ramen bowls. Additionally, Chan is no longer planning to open four total locations for Poke Picks in Sioux Falls. While he will still run the Poke Picks on Western Avenue, in the former Red Rossa building, he s sub-leasing the 1609 E. 10th St. location to Mohomad Fares, who is using the space to expand the Kabab King food truck into a restaurant and supermarket. ....
