LG polls: APC sweeps all 44 LG, councillorship seats in Kano

The ruling party, All Progressive Congress, APC have won all the 44 Local government Chairmen seats in Kano State.
The party also clears all the councillorship seats across the 484 wards of the state. The Chairman, State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, Prof. Garba Sheka disclosed this while declaring results of the last Saturday LG election in the state.
Prof. Sheka said the total of 2, 350, 577 was vote cast during the election. He said despite minor challenges encountered during the election process, the commission was able to conduct the election successfully. ....

PDP candidates among those vying for Kano LG poll- Commission

Kano, Jan. 13, 2021 The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is among political parties that have fielded candidates for Jan. 16 local government councils election in the state.
Prof. Ibrahim Sheka, Chairman, KANSIEC gave the clarifications at a sensitisation programme organised for Civil Society Election Observers in Kano.
Sheka said the PDP was among the 12 political parties vying for the 44 chairmanship and 484 councillorship positions in the election.
“PDP is among the parties contesting the Jan.16 local councils election in the state.
“A faction of the party presented candidates for the election and we have not recieved notice from anybody in the party indicating their intention to boycott the election,” he said. ....
