As flags went to half-mast in the area to mourn Prince Philip, Gord McFarlane remembered the time, nearly two decades ago, when he met the man who would become the longest-serving royal consort in British history.
McFarlane and Brian Porter met Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip on Oct. 9, 2002, in Toronto, at an event the locals attended in their capacity as members of the Brockville Infantry Company re-enactors’ group.
