A refugee father had to publicly confirm his son s passing from COVID-19 in Canada after online conspiracy theories sought to cast doubt on the teenager s cause of death.
Yassin Dabeh, 19, died of the coronavirus on Thursday at his home in the Canadian city of London, according to local media. His passing marked the youngest COVID-19 death in Canada s Ontario province. The young man, who worked as a cleaner at a long-term care facility, had contracted COVID-19 in early January.
Following Dabeh s passing, conspiracy theories claiming the teenager had died by suicide or a drug overdose emerged on social media. Internet users alleged a cover-up and attributed the claims to Dabeh s family without presenting evidence. Many pushed long-circulating misinformation on a deliberate inflation of official coronavirus death numbers. ....

Enrique Tarrio, Proud Boys chairman, assisted federal investigators before leading group: Report

During the 2014 hearing, the federal prosecutor said that Mr. Tarrio subsequently provided investigators with information that led to the prosecution of 13 other people, Reuters reported.
Jeffrey Feiler, Mr. Tarrio‘s lawyer at the time, said during the hearing that his client worked undercover repeatedly to help investigators and called him a “prolific” cooperator, the report said.
Mr. Tarrio, his lawyer told the court, “at his own risk, in an undercover role met and negotiated to pay $11,000 to members of that ring to bring in fictitious family members of his from another country,” Reuters reported.

Canada is facing the spectre of “the greatest rise in inequality on record” as investors’ portfolios soar in value while hundreds of thousands of people join the ranks of the unemployed, anti-poverty group Oxfam Canada says in a new report.
The country’s 44 billionaires ― as listed by Forbes magazine ― have collectively added $63.5 billion in wealth since stock and bond markets began recovering in March of 2020, Oxfam found.
