'I'm really excited': Gonzaga holds in-person graduations for Class of 2021

MEAD, Wash. Bagpipes welcomed Gonzaga University graduates and their families on Sunday at Mead s Union Stadium as the university held multiple graduation ceremonies for the class of 2021.
It marked Gonzaga s 128th Commencement, with the university conferring degrees to about 2,200 students. For the graduates, the in-person ceremony was the perfect end to what s been a difficult final year of their collegiate career.
Oh, its incredible. The fact that we even have the chance to be in-person, it was something we didn t even think was going to happen. So, now that we get to be together as a community and share this moment, it s incredible, Gonzaga graduate Catalina Bala said. ....

SPOKANE, Wash. Get your graduation gowns and caps ready because Gonzaga University announced that the 128th commencement ceremonies will honor the graduating class of 2021 in five outdoor ceremonies on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9, which will take place at Mead School District’s Union Stadium.
The 4,500-seat football stadium is large enough to accommodate a limited number of family members and guests, in accordance to COVID-19 safety guidelines. The stadium, located at 12509 N. Market St., is around a 20-minute drive from Gonzaga’s campus.
All participants – graduates, guests and others – are expected to adhere to all health and safety protocols, including wearing protective masks, physical distancing and others, as required by the state. ....
