Once snubbed by the Nobel Prize committee, nuclear physicist Dr. Chien-Shiung Wu is getting national recognition from the USPS.

IN FEBRUARY, THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE released a new Forever Stamp honoring the late Dr. Chien-Shiung Wu, one of the most influential nuclear physicists of her era.
Born in China in 1912, Wu came to America at age 24 and studied nuclear physics at Cal. As a graduate student, she worked at Berkeley’s Radiation Laboratory now the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab under Ernest O. Lawrence, for whom the lab was later renamed. ....

Dr. Percy Spencer, He was born on July 19, 1894 in Howland, Maine, his father died when Spencer was very young when his mother also left his aunt and uncle raised him. He discovered a local paper mill was going to start using electricity. He started learning as much as possible about it, he was one of thre people hired to install electricity in the plant. At the age of 18, Spencer joined the U.S navy, he was interested in wireless communications. While with the navy he made himself an expert on radio technology. For example, I just taught myself while I was standing watch at night he also learned calculus, trigonometry, chemistry and physics, this shows how smart he really was. By 1939, Spencer became one of the worlds leading experts in radar tube design. He was working at Raytheon, a contractor for the united states department of defense.
