County partners with Woodland Memorial to vaccinate underserved populations
The challenges of vaccinating the county’s underserved populations against COVID-19 were evident last week when appointments intended for those 75 and over, without health insurance and living in the county’s lowest socio-economic geographic areas went largely unfilled.
To insure shots got into arms, the county quickly opened up appointments at four clinics held last week to anyone over 65 living anywhere in the county with any insurance provider.
The announcement filtered out to the community on Tuesday evening, largely over social media, and open appointments were filled online within hours. But not necessarily by those from underserved populations. ....
