A Dunedin student who went to retrieve his stolen cellphone found the burglar who had raided his flat was less than apologetic.
Teremoana Taokia, 52, argued with the 20-year-old victim then gave him the phone back, after urinating on it.
He came before the Dunedin District Court yesterday after admitting three burglaries, all of which occurred during a drunken spree in the city s student sector on January 17.
His co-defendant Wayne Bennett, 39, pleaded guilty to two of the break-ins. ....

PHUKET: A 30-year-old woman was found dead from apparent suicide in a her car parked by the side of Sirirat Rd, linking Patong and Karon, yesterday (May 11).

Col Lt Somprasong Labaisa-ad of the Patong Police was called to the scene at about 11am.
Police together with Kusoldharm rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the body of Kanokwan Chuenaka, 30, slumped back in the driver’s seat of a Phuket-registered grey Honda Jazz car.
On the back seat behind the driver’s seat was an electric pan with burnt charcoal, which is presumed to have led to Ms Kanokwan’s death by asphyxiation. ....

Sea turtle's carcass found in Dauis, Bohol

RESIDENTS of Barangay San Isidro in Dauis, Bohol found a carcass of a leatherback sea turtle on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
The Bohol Environmental Management Office (Bemo), which sent a team of veterinarians to inspect and perform necropsy of the carcass, said the juvenile female leatherback sea turtle was 140 centimeters (cm) long and 100 cm wide.
It was already in the state of advanced decomposition, Bemo added.
Bemo also said that during the necropsy, the team of veterinarians found nylons in the sea turtle’s large intestines.
The sea turtle was buried in the village’s beach area. ....
