SunStar + January 16, 2021 A STUDENT in the Theology Department of the Seminario Mayor de San Carlos in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City has been admitted to a private hospital after testing positive for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). According to Archdiocese of Cebu spokesman Msgr. Joseph Tan, it’s the first Covid case in the seminary. In an interview on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, Tan said the patient arrived from Tagum, Davao del Norte after the Christmas and New Year holidays, but he did not have a specific date. Tan said the patient is now confined at the Perpetual Succour Hospital in Cebu City.

MFA issues clarification regarding repatriation process of migrant workers

Friday, 08 January 2021 - 16:13 Releasing a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that they will facilitate the repatriation without any financial burden on Sri Lankans.  Free of charge Foreign Secretary Jayanath Colombage clarified that the role of the Missions is strictly confined to organizing repatriation flights for returnees who are tested on arrival, offered all logistical support, and are quarantined at Government facilities free of charge. Explaining further, they stated the returnees are drawn from the list of overseas Sri Lankans registered in the Missions and Posts and repatriated depending on their vulnerability levels and on a “first come first serve basis“.
