100 Days Summit for Civil Rights will be presented 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, on Zoom.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 10, 2021) Faculty from the University of Kentucky College of Education’s Education and Civil Rights Initiative in collaboration with the NAACP are participating in the Summit for Civil Rights 2021 First 100 Days Briefing. The online event is designed to provide U.S. leaders with research and analysis on issues impacting racial justice and economic inequality.
“A president’s first 100 days in office are considered a touchstone a gauge for the level of impact that will be made. CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio Councilwoman Davida Russell offered a simple explanation for her seat at the table with the Biden transition committee overseeing housing and urban development, as well as education.
“They told me I checked all the boxes,” said the Black woman serving as an elected official in a racially diverse inner-ring suburb, as well as a longtime regional and state labor leader, school bus driver and substitute teacher.
It also doesn’t hurt that Russell lives within the district of Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, who is incoming President Joe Biden’s nominee for HUD secretary.
