Suspected DUI driver crashes van with five children inside [The San Diego Union-Tribune] A report of a man brandishing a gun from a van in La Mesa ended with a suspected DUI crash that sent five children to the hospital Friday night, police said. The incident began about 10:40 p.m., when someone reported a motorist with a gun on Aztec Drive, south of Lake Murray Boulevard, said La Mesa police Lt. Katy Lynch. An officer tried to stop the van, but the driver refused to pull over, police said. The vehicle then crashed at Baltimore Drive. The officer found five children inside, not properly restrained in car seats. They suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for further evaluation, police said. The driver, a woman, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony child endangerment. ....
