In news that will surely be a source of joy to residents and staff in nursing homes around Kerry, it was announced this week that the popular Covid Care concerts will return next week. The concerts, which proved to be very popular during their run last year, see accomplished classical musicians performing outdoor shows for residents and staff of nursing homes around the county. There will be 10 concerts in all in nursing homes around Kerry, starting on March 15 and running up to and including March 19, with two shows a day in homes and centres in places such as Kenmare, Camp, Tralee, Killarney and Listowel. ....

There’s been an outbreak of COVID-19 at a west Kerry nursing home. It’s understood in the region of 13 staff have tested positive for the virus at Ocean View Nursing Home in Camp. There are more than 30 residents at the centre, and all of them are now being tested. Ocean View Nursing Home is part of the Aperee Nursing Home Group. In a statement to Radio Kerry News, Aperee Nursing Home Group confirmed that a number of staff in Ocean View tested positive for COVID-19. Staff were tested as part of the nursing home’s fortnightly staff serial testing. ....
The outbreak at Ocean View Nursing Home in Camp was identified during fortnightly routine testing. In a statement, operators Apareee say all residents are now being tested. It says it is in ongoing contact with the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health. The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has also been notified. The statement says: We have enacted our contingency plan and are currently testing all our residents.
