William Randolph Young, age 64, passed away on December 23, 2020, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, TN. Bill was born on January 25, 1956, in Manchester, TN to parents James William and Loretta Swann Young. Bill is a proud military man, patriotic to the bone. After 22 years as a Navy Chief Warrant Officer 03, he retired to enjoy life to its fullest. Outside his structured lifestyle, he was a very creative and expressive man. He was known to be an incredible craftsman with wood, creating masterpieces for his home. Laura and Bill even designed and constructed a one of kind dining table to share many meals bonding with their family. Bill and his wife, Laura, are experienced landscapers, companioning their passion together out in their garden.

Navy Announces Aerial Vehicle Operator Warrant Officer Specialty

AVOs Will Operate Carrier-Based MQ-25 Stingray UAVs Expected To Start Appearing In 2024 The Navy announced a new warrant officer specialty designator whose job will be to operate carrier-based MQ-25 Stingray unmanned aerial vehicles, which are expected to start appearing in fleet carrier air wings sometime in 2024. The establishment of the Aerial Vehicle Operator (AVO) warrant officer specialty became a reality Dec. 9 with Secretary of the Navy Kenneth J. Braithwaite’s approval of the new designator, which was announced in NAVADMIN 315/20. Over the next 6-10 years, the Navy will recruit, train and send to the fleet, a community of roughly 450 warrants in grades W-1 through W-5.
