WEATHER REPORT AND TIDES It ll be a warmer day on the Coast after patches of rain recently hovered over the region. The sunny conditions will bring a maximum temperature of 27C for Maleny, 29C for Maroochydore, Caloundra and Noosa Heads and 30C in Nambour. There was a slight chance of showers earlier this morning, but residents are expected to enjoy the clear skies throughout the rest of the day. Low tide was at midnight at 0.40m and high tide will reach 1.78m at 6.45am. The next low tide is scheduled for 1.18pm at 0.60m and high tide at 6.43pm at 1.28m. ....
Premium Content UPDATE Coast Guard crews have been forced to abandon attempts to tow a stranded vessel back to shore. A Coast Guard Mooloolaba spokesman said the boat’s owner, David Simpson, joined a coast guard crew on Wednesday morning as they tried to dislodge the boat. However, the crew was forced to abandon the effort due to the tow rope snapping and the boat filling with water. The spokesman said the crew was now planning a salvage operation and would need to pump out the water the boat was taking on. He said they would return to the boat when conditions allowed. ....
A boatie who was flung off his boat into the churning sea stripped naked and waved his board shorts in the air in a desperate bid to be rescued. David Simpson, 64, was aboard his yacht MV Focus in waters off Caloundra, on Queensland s Sunshine Coast, on Tuesday when a violent storm swept over. As he rushed to tie down a dinghy, a massive wave smashed against the vessel and knocked him overboard. A rescue operation was launched after the vessel (pictured) was found at the northern tip of Bribie Island, off the coast of Caloundra, in the Sunshine Coast, about 4pm Tuesday with the engine running and no one on board ....
