Hospitals staff strike continues

Hospitals’ staff strike continues July 14, 2021 Islamabad: Health workers of federal government hospitals continued their protest on Tuesday, warning the government to expedite the payment of COVID risk allowance to them, failing which their protest will not merely continue but intensify. “We want our issues immediately resolved,” the charged protestors demanded. The Out-Patient Departments and vaccination centres of all hospitals in the capital city remained closed, with hundreds of patients facing the brunt of needless mishandling of an issue that should long have been resolved. Gathered under the umbrella of the Federal Grand Health (FGHA), the protest was attended by all its constituent organizations including the Young Doctors Association, Paramedics Association, Officers Association, and Non-Gazetted Employees Association, among others.

Delay in release of risk allowance sparks protests across all FG hospitals

Delay in release of risk allowance sparks protests across all FG hospitals July 13, 2021 Islamabad: Responding to the call of the Grand Health Alliance, health workers of all federal government hospitals observed complete strike on Monday, boycotting their respective Out-Patient Departments to protest against the inordinate delay in release of the special health allowance announced by the government almost a year ago when the Covid-19 pandemic infiltrated into Pakistan. Condemning the “inappropriate and wilful attitude” of the Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of National Health Services, who are now seen as the major stumbling blocks impeding implementation of the government’s directive, the protesting health workers strongly demanded the removal of both officials.
