Body pulled from Mississippi River is missing LSU student

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) The body pulled from the Mississippi River on Tuesday has been identified as missing LSU freshman Kori Gauthier.
“Since Kori was first reported missing, the LSU Police Department, Baton Rouge Police Department and other law enforcement agencies and volunteers have taken exhaustive measures to locate her and, in the process, to determine what led to her disappearance,” LSU Chief of Police Bart Thompson said Wednesday in a statement. “This is a difficult conclusion for all of us, but we hope this will bring closure for the Gauthier family.”

The Parker County Sheriffâs Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the scene of two deceased males found in northwestern Parker County Sunday evening.
Weatherford Police Department received a call on a non-emergency line regarding a male individual who may be in danger at an unknown address in the âDallas/Weatherfordâ area.
A second call was received and transferred to the PCSO, stating individual(s) were located at an unidentified abandoned school with red bricks at an unknown address with possible gunfire. Sheriffâs deputies began canvassing areas with similar descriptions within Parker County.

Parker County Sheriff s Office deputies arrested Sean Thomas Sloan, 28, of Weatherford, after a neighbor reported witnessing him assault his 3-year-old husky.
Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said deputies were dispatched to the 7200 block of Comanche Trail around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday where the neighbor showed them a cell phone recording of the assault on the dog named Shy. The video depicts Sloan aggressively grabbing the dog as it was tethered in the front yard of the home. Sloan then struck the dog in the face and neck with a closed fist, contorting its neck, forcing its snout to touch its back, and struck it several additional times, according to a release from the sheriff s office. The dog attempted to escape Sloan, at which time, Sloan grabbed the dog s muzzle and forced it to the ground while striking it on its rear right hip, face and neck several more times. The dog was able to get away from Sloan and ran under the residence.

Hudson Oaks Mayor Marc Povero announced Thursday that he is running for Parker County sheriff in the March 1, 2022 Republican primary.
Povero is in his second term as mayor of Hudson Oaks and was a three term city councilman before running for mayor. Prior to serving in elected office, Marc was appointed to the ESD 3 board of commissioners and the Hudson Oaks Planning and Zoning Commission.
Povero is a 23-year law enforcement veteran, a sergeant with the Fort Worth Police Department and an FAA-licensed commercial pilot who supervises the departmentâs Aviation Unit.
Povero said he believes it is time for a new leader and a new vision within the Parker County Sheriff s Office, according to a release sent out Thursday morning.
