The Dispatch The Lexington City Council voted to hire a full-time employee dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion of city staff during its meeting on Monday. The 4-3 vote came after Lexington City Manager Terra Greene presented her proposal that the city hire an independent consultant, assessed by a diversity and inclusion team made of city employees, to provide professional recommendations for a strategic direction. She said this would include determining what a DEI professional job description would be; the salary that would need to be budgeted, an organizational assessment and what staff resources may be needed.
