Maxim Power Corp. Announces Milner 2 CCGT Project EPC

MAXIM or the
Corporation ) (TSX: MXG) announced today that it is proceeding with the Corporation s project to expand M2 into a combined cycle gas turbine (
“CCGT”) facility through the installation of heat recovery technology. The CCGT expansion project is anticipated to increase total generation capacity from 204 MW to approximately 300 MW and improve operational efficiency resulting in lower operating and maintenance costs per MWh. The current estimated cost of the CCGT expansion project is $125 million before financing costs. MAXIM anticipates the expansion will commence commercial operations during December 2022.
The CCGT expansion project is being financed with debt, existing cash, and cash flow from operations during the construction period. As of this date, MAXIM forecasts it will have sufficient liquidity to complete the CCGT expansion project. ....

Application approved to build Sault Smart Grid, a first for Canada: PUC

PUC Distribution announced today that the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has approved its application to build the $34 million Sault Smart Grid Project.
A news release issued today by PUC Distribution Inc. states that this project is the first of its kind in Canada and is expected to impact how other utilities across the country look at smart grid systems.
The project will not only help customers save on their monthly bill but it will also help the utility better prepare for emergencies such as black outs and storms and through its “self-healing” technology reduce the duration and number of outages, said PUC President and CEO Rob Brewer in the release. ....

May 4, 2021 – The City of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., reports it is set to host an “advanced, community-wide smart grid project that will be a first in Canada”.
“We set out to become a national leader in the energy industry and, with this project, that goal will be realized,” said Christian Provenzano, Mayor of Sault Ste. Marie.
