Chris Hutchins, Sir Tom’s former publicist, recalled going to check-in on the singer’s wife one day to discover a “terribly, terribly sad” sight.
He said: “It was mid-morning and she was in this huge house on St George’s Hill (in London), a mansion, and she did all the cleaning herself.
“She was dancing to one of Tom’s CDs with a duster in one hand and a bottle of Dom Pérignon in the other.
“She was swigging it from the neck and, in many ways, this was amusing – in other ways, it was terribly, terribly sad.”
SIR TOM JONES trashed the BBC in a brutal rant after being axed from The Voice, where he described the corporation as a cold place that was run by machines .
Despite cheating on his wife with scores of women, Sir Tom always maintained that Linda was his soulmate.
From the day they met at school in Treforest, Pontypridd, he claimed to have known she was the one for him.
Sir Tom described her as “the most important thing in my life” and an “unbelievable woman” in a 2006 Daily Mail article.
But a decade later, Linda died after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, at the age of 75.
Her death was roughly one-year before Sir Tom and Linda would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Sir Tom and Linda had one son Mark, who was born a month after their marriage, and while the singer was still performing at working men’s clubs.
The Voice star reflected on his extramarital affairs and claimed that they didn’t matter because his marriage was “still solid” and his son “still loves me”.
This came despite confessing to having bedded up to 250 women a year – including several famous musicians – in a 2012 Telegraph article.
Sir Tom claimed that he didn’t have any regrets related to his marriage or well-publicised affairs.

Sir Tom and Linda, full name Melinda Trenchard, were both 16 years old when they married, one-year after they met at school in Treforest, Pontypridd.
The singer said that during their early relationship, the loved-up teenagers would kiss inside a phone box at the end of his future wife’s road to hide their romance.
The couple had their only son Mark Woodward, Sir Tom’s real surname, one month after they tied the knot.
Sir Tom worked at a paper mill to support his family and pursued his dream of being a singer at nights when he sang at working men’s clubs.
