Srinagar, April 17 : The Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday appealed to the people not to pay heed to those trying to paint the arrest of a woman SPO (Special Police Officer) from South Kashmir s Kulgam district in any hue other than for a criminal act.
On Friday the Jammu and Kashmir police had arrested and terminated the services of a woman SPO for allegedly glorifying terrorism.
The police in a statement on Saturday regarding the termination of the SPO from service for allegedly glorifying terrorism said it has been found that on various media platforms, a number of vested interests with malafide intentions have put in a lot of efforts into making the incident appear like an over-reach and an excessively strict action . ....

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Police have claimed to bust a Lashkar-e-Toiba network, believed to be behind the attack on Municipal Councillors and Police in north Kashmir s Sopore. At least six Lashkar terror associates have been arrested by the police. 
In a statement, the police claimed that Sopore Police busted the network involved in a terrorist attack on March 29, by apprehending the OGW s and seizing the bike used in the attack. On March 29th, after the killing of two Municipal councillors and police personnel, multiple Cordon and Search Operations were launched by the Sopore Police along with other security forces at suspected locations Dangepora, Brath Kalan, Sidiq Colony Sopore, Model Town, Batpora. ....

OGW arrested in Sopore, incriminating material recovered
Srinagar, Apr 5 (UNI) Police on Monday claimed to have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) belonging to militant outfit The Resistance Front (TRF) and recovered incriminating material from him in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
A police official said that following specific information, a joint checkpoint was established by police, 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 179 battalion of CRPF at Model Town crossing in Sopore.
“One hard core OGW of TRF, identified as Ihsaan ul Haq Khanday, was intercepted at the checkpoint. Incriminating material, including letter pad of TRF Outfit, was recovered from his possession,” he said. ....

Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) A top police officer on Wednesday said that the killing of Al-Badar chief Gani Khawja in an encounter is a major success for security forces and a big jolt to militancy as he was instrumental in reviving the militant outfit in the valley, including recruiting youth, planning attacks and receiving new groups from across the Line of Control (LoC).
“The killing of Khawja is a major success for security forces because he is the one, who on the behest of Pakistan activated Al-Badar in 2020. He succeeded in recruiting much youth in the militant ranks. All the militants belonging to Al-Badar, who were killed in recent encounters, were recruited by him,” Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar told reporters during a press conference here on Wednesday. ....
