Lady Pacers second, Pacers sixth in VMG Invitational track meet

It was a rainy night in the area last Thursday, but Switzerland County High School still hosted the annual Vevay Media Group Invitational track meet to impressive performances and outstanding achievements.
Along with the Pacers, the meet featured Southwestern, Milan, Rising Sun, Shawe Memorial, Lawrenceburg, and Jac-Cen-Del.
In the girls meet, Switzerland County finished second overall with 108 points, trailing champion Lawrenceburg, which tallied 111 points.
Jac-Cen-Del was third with 79; followed by Southwestern with 71, Rising Sun with 36, Shawe Memorial with 28; and Milan with 27.
• In the 3,200-meter relay, the Lady Pacer team of Cheyenne Wick, Angela Garrett, Dakota Richards, and Miranda Earls finished third with a time of 14:53.81. ....

Westfield a finalist in We The People competition | News, Sports, Jobs

WESTFIELD Greg Birner, Westfield Academy and Central School’s Social Studies teacher, and his We the People Team have experienced unprecedented success this year by placing second at states with an invitation to nationals.
Birner has been coaching We the People teams since 2007. To date, the best any team has placed was third overall in the state competition. This year, the 14 students who made up the We the People Team placed second overall and were marked as above average or excellent by 21 out of 24 judges, Birner said.
Only the top two placing teams in the state are invited to the national competition. Birner said that nine out of the 14 students have chosen to compete in the nationals, which will take place in late April. ....
