The UK government was under intense pressure to obtain sufficient supplies of PPE, ventilators and Covid-19 test kits when the pandemic started to sweep through the country in early 2020. These supplies were essential for stopping the spread of the virus, but many were critical of the speed with which these items were procured. Over time, questions were also asked about where the supplies were coming from, and more importantly - who was being paid to produce them. Of the contracts awarded, £4.5 billion went to companies with no prior experience of manufacturing such items. A further £3.7 billion went to firms that have political ties to the Conservative Party, according to the report published in the New York Times. ....

I can reveal that the heir to the throne s educational charity, the Prince s Foundation, enjoyed an increase of £4million in its net assets this year. According to newly filed figures, it boasted assets of £119.5 million in the 12 months to March. Incoming resources also soared, from £16.5 million in 2019 to £22.3 million this year. Fawcett, who started as a junior footman, was made the £95,000-a-year chief executive of the foundation in a major re-organisation of Charles s philanthropic work in March 2018. ....
Foyle MLA: PSNI officer wearing an old RUC badge is unacceptable Reporter: ); ); A Foyle MLA has said it was totally unacceptable for a PSNI officer to wear an old RUC badge on his hat while taking part in a police operation in the Creggan area of Derry today. The old RUC badge the officer wore consists of a poppy with a harp in the centre and crown atop the words Royal Ulster Constabulary. The same badge can be purchased online for £5.95. Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan said she has raised the matter with Derry City and Strabane District Commander, Chief Superintendent Darrin Jones. ....
