The weather service says the strongest winds will be along the western edge of the Sacramento Valley and "favorably oriented canyons" in the foothills and mountains.

Snow level is expected to drop to 3500 to 4000 feet, possibly as low as 2500 feet. A weather system will bring a potential for snow to northeastern Trinity County Friday through Saturday. Travel on highways 299 and 3 may be impacted by snow, particularly at Oregon Mountain Summit, Buckhorn Summit and Scott Mountain Pass, the NWS Eureka Facebook page reports. Snowfall totals up to a foot will be possible across the Trinity Alps, including Scott Mountain Summit on highway 3. Elsewhere, three to six inches of snow will be possible at Oregon Mountain and Buckhorn Summit on highway 299, while several inches of accumulation may occur across the lower valleys that include Trini
