Sat May 15 2021 Signs and expectations are that at least 10 out of the 109 members of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly are likely to contest for governorship elections in their states, Daily Trust Saturday reports. Though the lawmakers are yet to formally declare their intentions to join the governorship race, scheming and caucusing around them revealed that it is just a matter of time before they will let out their ambitions. Since the country returned to democracy in 1999, it has become the tradition of lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly to cross over from the parliament to the executive arm as governors, while second term governors move to the parliament as senators. ....
A former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has told herdsmen that open grazing is no more sustainable in the country. Ladoja, who is the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, insisted that open grazing, which has resulted in loss of many lives in different parts of the country due to clashes between farmers and herdsmen, is no more fashionable because it has outlived its relevance. He advised herdsmen, cattle breeders and anyone interested in rearing cattle to find sustainable businesses to do as it is glaring that open grazing is no more sustainable. The former governor said this while hosting some personalities, among whom were Senator Teslim Folarin (Oyo Central); former Secretary to Oyo State Government and Ekefa Balogun of Ibadan land, Barrister Sharafaden Alli; and Ajia Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke. ....

Your party the All Progressives Congress (APC) is regrouping and re-strategising. How would you describe the outlook for the party in Oyo State after the registration exercise and reconciliation? It has been very positive. It’s been very good. Am i surprised? No, because the people know that the only way to salvation is APC. Personally, I’m overwhelmed because even political platforms such as the ZLP are collapsing their structures into the APC unconditionally. This has never happened before. So, it’s been very good. APC, for me, is the party to beat, not just in Oyo State but nationwide. ....
