Owen Duross is a designer working for Oyler Wu Collaborative in Los Angeles. Owen holds his Master of Architecture from the University of Kentucky’s College of Design, School of Architecture where he was awarded the Design Stewardship Award in 2016. Prior to joining Oyler Wu, he worked in several offices including: D.O.T.S. (Design Office Takebayashi Scroggin), PLUS-SUM Studio, and Ball-Nogues Studio in Los Angeles.

The Exchange was fabricated by hand in Los Angeles, California by Oyler Wu with support from Ayoroa|Simmons, Baller Hardware, M&K Metal Co., and Noblitt Fabricating.

.- The 2017 J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize-winning installation “The Exchange will be decommissioned over the next few days from its location at the Irwin Conference Center and then shipped to Taiwan where it has been acquired into a private collection.
“This has been one of the most popular installations from our exhibitions, and while we are sad to see it go, we are delighted to see it have another significant life,” said Anne Surak, Director of Exhibit Columbus. “Our community really embraced this installation over the years. Workers from Ignition Arts of Indianapolis, which has worked alongside local arts-oriented agencies on projects for several years, have been dismantling the Exhibit Columbus architectural installation The Exchange in recent days.
The popular piece from Los Angeles-based Oyler Wu Collaborative was among the Miller Prize winning installations for the inaugural Exhibit Columbus exhibition in 2017, and has remained on site at the Irwin Conference Center at Fifth and Washington streets downtown since then.
Workers began the disassembly on Tuesday, and should be finished within a few days, according to Anne Surak, Exhibit Columbus director. ....

“It’s very exciting to see it have another life,” said Anne Surak, Exhibit Columbus director.
Exhibit Columbus is an annual exploration of architecture, art, design, and community highlighting Columbus’ Modernist global legacy. One year, it presents a symposium. The next, a physical exhibition.
This is just one of several pieces from that first exhibition leaving to enjoy a renewed life elsewhere. Other pieces have been shipped to locations ranging from Washington, D.C., to Venice, Italy.
The welded steel piece, done by the Los Angeles-based Oyler Wu Collaborative, has been in place at the Eero Saarinen’s Irwin Conference Center at Fifth and Washington streets in downtown Columbus since August 2017. Workers are scheduled to begin taking it apart today. ....
