LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - UPDATED at 12:45 PM with rain totals - A mix of weather elements are likely today, including fog, drizzle, rain, and thundershowers. You may want to allow extra drive time today and tonight due to the potential for areas of low visibility and wet pavement (and other surfaces).
Rain event totals at the time of this post are listed at the end.
Today through the early morning hours of Friday areas of low visibility in fog/drizzle are possible. I also expect additional spotty rain showers and isolated thundershowers. While I don’t anticipate severe weather, the stronger thundershowers may produce downpours, pea- to marble-size hail, and gusty winds. ....

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - There’s a free breakfast for all first responders this weekend. Performance Motorcoaches and Boots and Badges Of South Plains teamed up to treat the first responders and nurses.
“The event going on to Saturday is basically feeding our first responders and their family just wanting to give back to our community,” said Casey Saiz, Marketing Development Manager at Performance Motorcoaches.
Other Lubbock businesses are helping by donating food and money to the event. ....

The Covenant Health Foundation will kick off a two-week community fundraising campaign, Champions for Children, benefitting Covenant Children’s and its care for kids on Wednesday. FWP data system makes tracking violations difficult


Whether Gov. Greg Gianforte is the only trapper in Montana to receive a warning in the last five years for trapping a wolf without completing a required certification class cannot be determined due to how game wardens record alleged violations, a spokesperson for Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks says.
On Feb. 15 Gianforte trapped and killed a wolf north of Gardiner. On Feb. 16, he brought it to FWP headquarters in Helena for a required inspection, and was issued a written warning by Enforcement Chief Dave Loewen for doing so without first completing a mandatory wolf trapper education class. The governor was in compliance with all other aspects of the law, officials said. ....

Adult wolf hit, killed by car in Eastern Oregon


RICHLAND — An adult wolf from the Cornucopia pack in eastern Baker County was hit and killed by a car on Highway 86 near Richland last week.
Several motorists reported the dead wolf, starting around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, according to Brian Ratliff, district wildlife biologist at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife office in Baker City.
The wolf was hit near Milepost 36, about 5 miles west of Richland.
Ratliff said he doesn’t know who hit the wolf. No one has reported doing so.
The dead wolf, a male weighing 95 pounds, was born in the spring of 2019 along with two other pups, Ratliff said. That litter elevated the group of wolves to pack status. ....
