An independent zero-waste shop has officially opened its doors after moving to a larger premises in the town centre. Bosses behind Cut the Wrap bid farewell to their Upper Brook Street site on Monday after nearly three years of business. The popular plastic-free grocery store was set up by Cat and Paul Moffatt in July 2018 after the pair watched a Blue Planet documentary which inspired them to reduce their carbon footprint. The store operates on a complete plastic-free basis, with customers choosing how much of a product they want to buy – and in what container. After a difficult 2020, Mrs Moffatt said the couple is forging a ‘brighter, more positive’ future in their new base in New Market Street. ....

The Chill and Grill, Bardsea A CAFE will have more staff following a redevelopment plan that will see it demolished and rebuilt. The Chill and Grill on the Coast Road is due to demolished if plans lodged with a council are approved. Owners Paul and Alev Stoller has submitted the plans to South Lakeland District Council. According to plans the work on the expansion at the cafe in Bardsea will take 32 weeks to complete. Work will take place between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturday. The plans also suggest the number of employees will increase from six to 10, with three full-time and seven part-time, ....
