Odisha Bandh Today: Left parties, Congress protest against fuel price hike
The Left parties have given a six-hour bandh call in Odisha on Thursday against the steep fuel price hike. Leaders of CPI, CPI(M), Forward Block and CPI(ML- Liberation) announced that the bandh would begin at 6 am and continue till 12 pm. State Congress president Niranjan Patnaik said his party will extend its support to the bandh.
CPI state secretary Asish Kanungo said vehicles will stay off the roads, shops and other business establishments will also remain shut during the period. The Left leaders demanded immediate withdrawal of taxes imposed on fuel by the Centre and the state government to bring down prices to provide relief to the common people. ....

BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Sunday declared that all educational institutions would be closed on Monday in view of the Congress-sponsored Odisha bandh, from 7 am to 1 pm, in protest against rising fuel prices.
“All private and government schools, colleges and universities will remain closed. We have asked our employees to reach offices in Bhubaneswar by 9.30 am,” a senior government officer said.
The state police headquarters has asked the SPs to remain alert. Adequate police forces have been deployed across the state to avoid any untoward incident. “We appeal to the protestors not to resort to any violence,” a senior police officer said. Fuel price hike: Odisha bandh affects normal life, educational institutes closed

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: Normal life in Odisha was partially affected on Monday due to the 6-hour bandh called by Congress over the rising prices of petrol and diesel in the country. The bandh will remain in place for six hours - from 7 am to 1 pm.
Petrol and diesel at Rs 89.69 per litre and Rs 86.47 per litre respectively, today in Bhubaneswar.

The state government has closed all the schools, colleges and universities across Odisha for the safety of students.
After a gap of about nine months, schools across Odisha had on January 8 reopened their classrooms to students who would shortly be appearing for their board examination, amid strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. ....
