CORONAVIRUS HOSPITALIZATIONS: Record number of COVID-19 hospitalizations reported in Oklahoma

A record number of Oklahomans are in the hospital with COVID-19. This is the first time since Christmas Eve we ve received a COVID-19 hospitalization update in Oklahoma.More than 1,900 people are in the hospital right now for COVID-19, and 499 of them are in the ICU. Both of these numbers are the most we ve ever seen.State health officials on Monday reported more than 3,400 new coronavirus cases.Thirteen more Oklahomans have died because of the virus. While this does slightly increase the seven-day average, numbers are being affected by the holidays.Right now, most of our state is in tier 3 of the hospital surge plan. However, Oklahoma County is nearing tier 4, which is the highest hospital surge plan. It happens when our hospitals have reached capacity based on region and state numbers. This would make it so that hospitals would have to limit surgeries to only emergencies, and also at that time, hospitals would have to use resource management tools to manage the demands on ....
