CASHLESS TOLLING ON KILPATRICK TURNPIKE: Drivers getting use to cashless tolling on Kilpatrick Turnpike after weekend transition

The Kilpatrick Turnpike is now cashless after the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority converted to PlatePay over the weekend.People driving on the Kilpatrick Turnpike will no longer have to carry cash or coins to pay at a toll plaza. Now, they can drive right through and be billed later.Jack Damrill said drivers are still getting used to the new system 24 hours into the cashless tolling on the turnpike. We know some people that tried to drive around the barricades to get into the toll plaza, said Damrill, who is with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. The OTA transitioned to cashless tolling over the weekend to make roads safer. We ve had over 500 accidents in the last six years at the mainline toll plazas. That does not include the side gates and the ramps like MacArthur, May Avenue, Damrill said.One of those accidents included when four people were hurt after an ambulance slammed into a toll booth last year on the H.E. OKLAHOMA CITY – A bill to modernize the process for filing and storing vehicle titles and liens has cleared the full Senate. Senate Bill 998, by Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, was approved Monday.
“This is going to speed up the process for titles and liens by moving these records online,” Standridge said. “It’s going to make buying and selling vehicles more convenient and will even help owners get their permanent tags more quickly. It’s time to bring our state into the 21st century, and this is a part of that effort.” ....

OKLAHOMA SNOWSTORM: Turner Turnpike closed in both directions in east Oklahoma City due to multi-vehicle crash

Parts of the Turner Turnpike near Oklahoma City were shut down for almost 12 hours following a fiery crash involving several semitrucks and other vehicles Sunday. According to Oklahoma City Fire Department officials, four semitrucks and four privately owned vehicles were involved in a collision around 2:45 p.m. Four people were taken to hospitals by various means, but Oklahoma City Fire Department personnel did not treat or encounter the patients.Fire officials also said there are no known fatalities as a result of the incident. Two Oklahoma City Fire Department fire engines and one brush pumper became nonoperational while on the scene because of mechanical parts freezing.Multiple agencies have worked the collision, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Jones, Luther and Edmond fire departments.Authorities said around 9:45 p.m. Sunday that the eastbound lanes of the turnpike reopened and announced ....
