Councillors propose thank-you gifts for neighbourhoods disrupted by assessment centres

LONDON, ONT.
A pair of city councillors is proposing a thank-you gift of sorts for each of London’s two neighbourhoods that have been disrupted by COVID-19 assessment centres.
Ward 4 Councillor Jesse Helmer and Ward 8 Councillor Steve Lehman have a motion going to the committee level asking that staff consult residents in Oakridge and Carling Heights on potential indoor or outdoor recreation upgrades. They’re also hoping to tap senior governments for some of the funding.
“For the greater good of all of us this particular community did their part, says Lehman, whose ward includes the Oakridge Assessment Centre, which closed just days ago. “This is a way that London can say ‘Thank you.’ It might be a small thing, but I think the important thing is it’s being acknowledged.” ....

Holiday hours for COVID-19 testing centres

To ensure that London can still meet the testing needs of the community over the holidays, new operating hours will be in effect starting Dec. 25th for the holiday season.
Carling Assessment Centre
Friday, Dec. 25th: Open from noon to 4pm.
Dec. 26th to Jan. 3rd: Open 11am to7pm.
The Centre will continue with regular hours on Monday, Jan. 4th. Book your appointment here.
Oakridge Assessment Centre
The Centre will reopen on Monday, Jan. 4th.
Phone lines will also be closed.
Appointments are encouraged to be made online. Both Centres will only test those who are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to a confirmed case of the virus (as informed by Middlesex London Health Unit or the COVID Alert app). ....
