Watertown Girl Scout collecting socks in Ogdensburg as part of Silver Award project

OGDENSBURG â A Watertown teen, as part of a Girl Scout project, is helping collect socks so they can be distributed to those in need in the Ogdensburg area.
While spending part of the summer in Ogdensburg with family, Allyson Ladouceur, Watertown, is pursuing the Girl Scoutâs prestigious Silver Award and has initiated her project called âOperation Sox Box.â
âOperation Sox Boxâ is a project designed to help the Ogdensburg community by getting donations of fun and practical socks to those most in need, according to Miss Ladouceur, who is a ninth-grader attending Immaculate Heart Central School, Watertown.
âI have decided to do this project because I really enjoy purchasing and receiving fun socks,â said Miss Ladouceur, adding that there are people âwho might not always get to experience the joy of fun socks. It is with great sadness that the family of Timothy J. “Tim” Baker of Ogdensburg, NY announces his passing. A 14-year pancreatic cancer survivor he lived every day to the fullest and was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Tim was born in Ogdensburg on May 21, 1951. He was a member of the 1969 last graduating class of St. Mary’s Academy and went on to earn his Associate Degree in Business Administration at Canton College. Upon graduation he joined the St. Lawrence National Bank (now Community Bank) where he held a number of different positions including head of the Credit Department and Loan Processing; Vice President, Commercial and Consumer lending group; Merger and Acquisition team leader; Chief Financial Officer; and Senior Vice President and Director of Special Projects. He retired in 2016. ....

$1,000 donation to Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center

SeaComm recently donated $1,000 in support of the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center. The funds have been used to assist the center in providing food, fuel, shelter and other necessities for low-income families in the Ogdensburg area. Ogdensburg fire, police unions holding Saturday afternoon food drive

OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg Police and Fire Unions are holding a food drive for the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at the police station.
A “Pack to the Patrol Car” event is aimed at helping the neighborhood center provide food to families in need.
The organization has struggled this year with complications from the pandemic, which forced it relocated twice since April
Our first responders are asking for help packing our Police Car with non-perishable food items from our great community to benefit the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center. Everyone understands the hardships that our community is facing during not only the existing pandemic but also during the holidays.
