ADA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) A state lawmaker who crashed his vehicle in western Michigan has been arrested for driving while intoxicated.
State Rep. Bryan Posthumus was arrested Friday and booked into the Kent County Correctional Facility, according to jail records.
He had left his farm in Oakfield Township in a Jeep, which drifted off the road, hit a mailbox and rolled over, according to a news release issued late Saturday from the lawmaker’s office.
Posthumus was taken to a hospital for evaluation and released. His blood alcohol level was .13% when Michigan’s legal limit is .08, according to the release. ....

State Rep. Bryan Posthumus didn’t know Jeep rolled in drunken-driving crash, police say

Posthumus, 36, was arrested Friday, April 30, for allegedly operating while intoxicated.
The crash happened just after 6 p.m. on McCabe Avenue NE near Four Mile in Ada Township – shortly after a witnessed reported a vehicle “all over the road, possibly intoxicated,” Deputy Matthew Rybar wrote in the report, released Monday, May 3, in response to a Freedom of Information request.
Parts of the report were redacted.
Posthumus awaits a May 21 arraignment in 63rd District Court, court records showed.
He previously issued a statement about his arrest. A test showed his blood-alcohol content was 0.13 percent, the statement said. ....

State Rep. Bryan Posthumus was arrested Friday after crashing his vehicle in Kent County.
According to the lawmaker’s office, Rep. Posthumus left his Oakfield Township in a Jeep, drifted off the road, hit a mailbox and rolled over.
Posthumus was taken to a hospital for evaluation and released.
His blood alcohol level was .13%, Michigan’s legal limit is .08%.
No one else was injured.
This isn’t Rep. Posthumus’s first time being arrested for drunk driving, he was previously arrested in January 2013.
The first-term Republican lawmaker apologized in a statement saying it is “clear” he has a drinking problem and needs help. ....
