Two people have been arrested after attempting to flee the scene of a crash in a stolen truck in Oak Ridge on July 26. According to the Oak Ridge Police Department, officers attempted to stop the driver of the stolen pickup truck on South Illinois Avenues at Tulsa Road.  The driver fled and sped southward before crashing into another vehicle at the intersection of South Illinois Avenue at South Rutgers Avenue. Despite one of the tires blowing out on the truck, the driver continued driving on the remaining three tires toward Edgemoor Road.

The ORPD made the announcement on its official Facebook page Wednesday, July 21. The Oak Ridge Fire Department responded to the fire on 167 Waddell Circle for a residential structure fire in a quadplex. “The fire was later determined to be purposefully set,” the post stated, adding the ORPD investigators responded to the scene to assist with the incident. The ORPD stated there are several “persons of interest” already identified through the investigation. However, police are still requesting that anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in identifying those responsible.
