HASLO seeking to build affordable housing development in Arroyo Grande

The Housing Authority of San Luis Obispo (HASLO) plans to construct a mixed-use development in Arroyo Grande with 65 units of affordable housing.
Plans call for three separate three-story buildings with residential units, as well as commercial space and a community room, on a a 2.16-acre site located at 700 Oak Park Boulevard.
The development would contain 30 one-bedroom units, 18 two-bedroom units and 17 three-bedroom units. Two of the buildings would front on El Camino Real and the third would be situated on the corner of Oak Park Boulevard and Chilton Street.

A San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputy sideswiped a parked car before crashing into a tree in Grover Beach on Tuesday.
The deputy was driving on Oak Park Boulevard towards Capistrano Court when he sideswiped a parked Ford Crown Victoria, according to the CHP. The deputy then accelerated, went though the Capistrano Court intersection, veered off the road, crashed through a fence, knocked two patio support beams down and slammed into a palm tree near the intersection of La Jolla Court, said a local business owner who witnessed the accident. The witness asked that his name not be publicized.

The wall has now been painted red, the old window frames have been removed and the exterior siding has been painted light brown to give it the appearance of a barn.
Itâs an appropriate look, since itâs right next to where the produce section is planned.

SLO man leads officers on a chase in a stolen car

A chase that started in San Luis Obispo on Thursday morning ended in a crash and an arrest in South County.
Shortly before 8 a.m., San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle at the Octagon Barn in SLO. While deputies were attempting to make contact, the driver sped away.
Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies followed the stolen car as it headed south on Highway 101.
The man drove the car into Grover Beach on Oak Park Boulevard, where he caused a non-injury accident at the intersection of Oak Park Boulevard and Newport Avenue, police said. Officers then gave up the chase.
