Boomtown expands regional media education program for 2021 January 20, 2021 9:31 Boomtown will continue to assist Australian media professionals to better understand the regional media landscape, with its education program to be extended in 2021. The initiative, run in partnership with the Media Federation of Australia (MFA) and NGEN, will this year include online masterclasses and face-to-face sessions worldwide on how to plan and buy regional advertising. Boomtown’s eight media owner members are Australian Community Media, Grant Broadcasters, Imparja, News Corp Australia,Ooh Media, Prime Media Group, Southern Cross Austereo and WIN Network. Its education initiative, which kicked off in 2020, will again be facilitated by Gaye Steele, who said there will be something for media professionals at any stage of their career. ....
January 20, 2021 11:13 The co-founders of CarExpert – who also founded CarAdvice, before it was bought by Nine and retired as a brand late last year – have waded into the contentious News Media Bargaining Code debate, throwing its support behind both Google and Facebook. CarAdvice owed much of its early success to Google, according to co-founders Alborz Fallah and Paul Maric, and CarExpert is now in a similar position. Both of the big platforms are welcome to access CarExpert content for free, they stated, because it benefits them too. Fallah and his co-founder have expressed strong support for Facebook and Google “Google has always been at the forefront of helping small publishers establish their brand,” said co-founder and managing editor, Maric. ....

Wildlife Victoria launches campaign with pro bono support from media December 18, 2020 2:50 Wildlife Victoria has launched a summer road safety campaign, urging drivers to take extra care on the roads while on holiday, and look out for native wildlife. Thousands of animals are killed on Victorian roads every year, so the state’s wildlife emergency rescue service is promoting the idea that ‘a safe drive saves our wildlife’. The campaign was funded through Wildlife Victoria’s supporters and created by independent advertising and design agency SDWM. It launched in partnership with TAC and Yarra Trams and has also received pro bono on support from major media outlets across Victoria. ....
Officeworks taps Ooh Media and ATN for Christmas commuter campaign December 17, 2020 10:37 Officeworks has launched its Christmas campaign aimed at commuters, which uses the Ooh Media digital billboard network and live traffic reads via the Australian Traffic Network (ATN). The contextual commuter campaign takes advantage of Ooh’s existing partnership with ATN to ‘block out’ three minutes either side of the hour during peak traffic times across selected screens, during which time commuters will hear live reads on the radio via ATN.
