Officials say the White House has dropped Trump-era executive orders that attempted to ban the popular apps TikTok and WeChat and will conduct its own review aimed at identifying national security risks with software applications tied to China. A new executive order directs the Commerce Department to undertake what officials describe as an “evidence-based” analysis of transactions involving apps that are manufactured or supplied or controlled by China. Tenants cannot be forced to pay deposits worth more than two monthsâ rent under new rules by the Government, while the Covid-19 eviction ban will continue for another six months. Under regulations brought to Cabinet by Minister for Housing Darragh OâBrien, and which should be in force by the summer, renters will be required to pay only a deposit worth a monthâs rent, plus a monthâs rent. However, the Irish Property Owners Association, representing largely small private landlords, said the decades-old demand for a monthâs deposit was no longer enough. Tenancy changes made by the State in recent years mean that tenants have to be given three monthsâ notice after staying in a property for just six months, while they must get six monthsâ notice after three years. ....
