COVID: Victoria records six new cases as fifth lockdown begins

Victoria has recorded six new cases of coronavirus on the first day of its fifth lockdown of the pandemic, including two people who picked up the virus at Melbourne’s iconic Young and Jackson’s hotel.
Ten new cases were recorded in the 24 hours to midnight, all linked to current outbreaks. Four of the cases in the official tally on Friday were revealed on Thursday.
COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar said Friday’s new cases showed ‘fleeting transmission’ was back in Victoria.
