Driver fined for going wrong up slip road onto dual carriageway A DRIVER who went the wrong way up a slip road onto a major Hampshire dual carriageway has been fined. Jenna Clarke-Williams, 36, was driving a 07-reg Ford Focus when she drove up the A303 off slip road near Micheldever on June 28 last year. She was found guilty of driving without due car and attention under the single justice procedure at Basingstoke Magistrates Court. Clarke-Williams, of Overton Hill, Overton, near Basingstoke, was fined £96 with a £34 victim surcharge and £90 costs as well as four penalty points added to her licence.

The Sandstone Trail is the finest longer walk in the county and an absolute must for anyone interested in the art of pedestrianism. It runs north to south from Frodsham to Whitchurch in Shropshire, a distance of 34 miles that can be covered quite easily in three days. If you simply don t have the time or even the inclination to take the full trail, you can still explore this beautiful part of Cheshire with this series of much shorter walks.

Nobody really knows which is the oldest road in Britain, but when discussion turns to that subject then one name is certain to pop up: The Ridgeway.
This 87-mile route from Overton Hill, near Avebury, to Ivinghoe Beacon, just outside Leighton Buzzard, has been walked for at least four millennia, and probably even more. As it trails through the countryside it passes by equally ancient sites: the stone circle at Avebury, the White Horse at Uffington and Waylands Smithy, a burial site that pre-dates Stonehenge by 1,000 years.
