BAI Deputy Chief Exec Celene Craig appointed to Board of European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA)

05 Feb 2021 : News Desk Craig, the Deputy Chief Executive of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) since its establishment in 2009, was appointed to the Board of the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) in December and recently took up her duties in January as a Board member. Comprising representatives from national audio-visual regulatory bodies of the 27 EU member states, ERGA advises the European Commission on matters relating to the implementation of the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) which introduces new legislation for television, on-demand and video sharing platform services. It also acts as a Forum for co-operation between the regulatory bodies and the exchange of experiences and good practice. Dungarvan native Michael O Keeffe to retire from BAI

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has announced the upcoming retirement of its Chief Executive Michael O’Keeffe. The Dungarvan native has worked in media regulation for over 30 years. Previously, he was CEO of the Independent Radio and Television Commission and the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland. Mr O’Keeffe is expected to retire from his current role with the BAI in early summer 2021. The BAI has launched the recruitment process for a new CEO. The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 26th of February 2021.
