Wrexham and Flintshire 16 to 17-year-olds on their election debut

16 and 17-year-olds can vote for the first time in Wales.
As the voting public of Wales heads to polling stations across the country today, this includes for the first time, 16 and 17-year-olds.
About 70,000 people in the age group were eligible to register after the voting age was lowered last year.
When the Bill to lower the voting age was first introduced in the Senedd in February 2019, the presiding officer of the then Welsh Assembly, Elin Jones, said she hoped it would engage young people in particular in the democratic process .

Team from Tusky Valley advances in debate competition.

ZOARVILE The entire Tuscarawas Valley Speech team has qualified for state competition and three team members have qualified for Nationals. That is the most National qualifiers and one alternate the district has ever sent to Nationals. They will compete on line in June against thousands of students in the country.
According to coach Carrie Spina the team has competed online this year and have adapted and prevailed. There are 13 high school and four middle school team competitors.
The team won an award for school of excellence in rhetoric speaking at the state level.
Senior Ellie Dorsey was named a national competitor in informative speaking and placed first in Eastern Ohio. ....
