Kenya and the United Kingdom have agreed to refresh the UK-Kenya Security Compact.
On a two-day visit to Kenya, the UK Secretary of State for Defense, Ben Wallace stressed the need to fight extremist groups.
It is important that friends and allies support you in the task ahead. It is important that when we face the common threat of al-Shabab, that we work together to defeat that, both here in Kenya but also the United Kingdom and through the international community and indeed through the UN in Somalia. I think it is important that the United Kingdom stands side by side with Kenya in standing up for its values, for democracy, and working with Kenya to make sure that its neighbors follow a similar path , Wallace said. ....

Kenya’s CS for Interior and Coordination of National Government, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, and the UK’s Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt. Hon. Ben Wallace MP, have agreed to a refreshed UK-Kenya Security pact.
The signing concluded after high-level talks, chaired by Dr. Matiang’i and Mr. Wallace, under the third UK-Kenya Security Dialogue. Dr. Matiang’i hosted Mr. Wallace at the start of a two-day visit to Kenya, which now moves on to focus on the UK and Kenya’s longstanding defense relationship.
During the talks, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, said, “This Security Compact will see both countries strengthen their capacity to respond to various facets of global security challenges in a more formidable manner. I look forward to working closely with the UK in achieving this goal.” ....

NAIROBI, KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta today unveiled a USD 30 billion United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) mechanism to help stimulate Kenya’s manufacturing sector.
The initiative dubbed Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) Starter Pack, is a model for accelerating industrial development in UNIDO member states by mobilizing resources for investment in high potential economic sectors.
The PCP, which is also successfully being rolled out in Ethiopia, Senegal and Peru, will boost Kenya s manufacturing potential by injecting more than USD 30 billion in the sector in the next five years. ....

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, January 22, unveiled a Ksh 3 trillion United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) mechanism to help stimulate Kenya’s manufacturing sector.
The initiative dubbed Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) Starter Pack, is a model for accelerating industrial development in UNIDO member states by mobilizing resources for investment in high potential economic sectors.
