Louisiana student delegate in U.S. Youth Senate Program born to serve

When Grant Wilson Suire was a kid he wanted to be president. Born on the Fourth of July and named after two American presidents, he seemed destined for the Oval Office.
Like other little kids, he thought being president would be cool. By middle school he was paying attention to the actual political process, especially as the 2016 election dominated.
By high school he d matured, noticing real problems that exist in the world, which only became more apparent in 2020 amid a global pandemic, another contentious election cycle and protests decrying inequality.
My passion shifted from the electoral politics from the superficial, flashy side and started focusing more on solving the problems my generation is going to be facing, Suire said. If anyone can fix it, maybe I can; if not, at least I ll know that I tried. ....

SHS senior selected for U.S. Senate Youth Program

SMITHFIELD – Victoria Richard, a senior at Smithfield High School, is one of two Rhode Island students chosen to participate in the United States Senate Youth Program during the 59th annual USSYP Washington Week, March 14-17.
“I was beyond ecstatic to get this opportunity,” Richard said. “This was actually the second year in a row I applied for this program. I got rejected the first time, so it was even more exciting when I received the news. As a student who’s been very involved in government and politics since I was a freshman, having the chance to talk to higher-up government officials, Supreme Court justices, and the president is a dream come true.” ....

Bartram Trail student selected for United States Senate Youth Program

Raj Mia, a senior at Bartram Trail High School, will join Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott in representing Florida during the 59th annual United States Senate Youth Program Washington Week, which takes place March 14 through 17.
Mia is the senior class and student council president. He served as junior class president last year, and is recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction. He currently serves as a National Honor Society commissioner and vice president of the Tech Club where he helps freshmen students build personal computers and expand their creativity with technology. Mia plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in engineering before attending law school. ....
