The survey for Queen’s University Belfast also finds that opinion is very evenly divided as to support or opposition for the North’s special EU trade status under the protocol. But two out of three people in the North think that some kind of special Brexit arrangements are needed for Northern Ireland. And, in keeping with the 2016 Brexit referendum result in the North, almost six out of 10 people still do not support the principle of the UK leaving the EU. ....

But research suggests just over half of respondents believe the north will have left the UK in 25 years time. The findings are part of a specially commissioned opinion poll for last night s BBC NI programme Spotlight - A Contested Centenary, in which people on both sides of the border had their say on Northern Ireland s future.
