HAMDEN, CT - (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home) Marcus Rollins McCraven, age 97, died peacefully in the company of his family on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at his home in Hamden, Connecticut.
He was born on December 27, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Marcus and Buena McCraven. He married his wife Marguerite Mills, who survives him, in 1947 in Washington D.C.
He was predeceased by his brother Carl C. McCraven (Eva).Marcus was a wonderful family man who embraced spending time with his loved ones.
In addition to his wife, Marcus is also survived by his three devoted children: Carol McCraven Ivy (Jonathan Sr.), Stephen McCraven (Clemence), and Paul McCraven (Cynthia). ....

Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority ruled Wednesday that Eversource Energy did not meet certain acceptable performance standards in preparing for and responding to Tropical Storm Isaias in August 2020.
PURA members were also critical of the state’s other large electric distribution company, Orange-based United Illuminating.

PURA: Eversource, UI failed to meet standards in response to August storm

The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority Wednesday morning issued a ruling finding that both Eversource Energy and United Illuminating Co. failed to meet certain acceptable performance standards in their preparation for and handling of Tropic Storm Isaias, which last August left hundreds of thousands of Connecticut residents without power, some for days on end.
The decision which followed an eight-month investigation by PURA came down particularly hard on Eversource, stating that the utility failed to communicate critical information to customers and municipal officials during the storm and deployed inadequate resources in its wake, as electrified downed power lines went unrepaired and ratepayers soldiered on without electricity, turned to generators for power, or in some cases temporarily left their homes to stay elsewhere. ....

The appointment of a new chief executive officer at Eversource Energy is being viewed as a move by the electric distribution company to appease lawmakers and utility regulators for the lengthy power outage following Tropical Storm Isaias last August.
Eversource announced Wednesday that current president and CEO Jim Judge will become executive chairman of the company’s board of directors on May 5. Judge is being replaced by Joe Nolan, who is currently executive vice president, strategy, customer and corporate relations. ....
