Jim Montelongo, the current 4th District City Council member and mayoral hopeful, said Wednesday night during a webcast with the Journal Star and 90.7 FM that he wanted people to understand a potential conflict of interest that existed if council colleague Sid Ruckriegel were to be elected mayor. Montelongo s mailer sent to voters throughout the city earlier this month questions whether multiple potential conflicts of interest would exist if Ruckriegel were elected mayor, while his longtime partner, Andrew Rand, was Peoria County Board chairman. It cites, for instance, the fact that Rand also is the CEO of Advanced Medical Transport, the ambulance company that has an exclusive contract with the city. ....
