NDLEA intercepts a 40-foot brewery truck with 239 kilograms of illicit drug in Imo, nabs 20-yr-old with 6.12grams cocaine in Ondo.
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Imo State Command have intercepted a 40-foot truck carrying Nigerian Breweries beer bottles, with 239 kilograms of substances suspected to be cannabis sativa concealed inside.
This is even as the men of the Ondo State Command of the Agency have arrested a 20-year-old Bidemi Timileyin with 6.12 grams of cocaine at a joint in Ajiboro community Ondo town, Ondo West local government area of the state, while other suspects escaped. Both seizures were made on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. ....

A member of the
House of Representatives, Peters Makinde, on Tuesday, defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, read a letter on the floor announcing the defection of Mr Makinde, who represents Ondo East/Ondo West federal constituency of Ondo State.
In the letter, Mr Makinde cited leadership crisis as the reason for his defection.
He stated that the crisis “has created factions and divisions within the party.”
Due to the absence of the Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu and Deputy Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu, Nicholas Ossai (PDP, Delta) raised a point of order, objecting to the defection. ....

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has continued to enjoy defections from minority parties in the House of Representatives.
On Tuesday, Peter Makinde, a member of the Africa Democratic Congress who represents Ondo East/Ondo West federal constituency of Ondo State moved to the APC.
The defection caused an angry reaction from the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) caucus in the House.
Nicholas Ossai a member from Delta State raised a point of order, calling on the Speaker to declare the defection ‘void.’
Citing section 68 sub 2 of the 1999 constitution, Ossai argued that Makinde failed to provided necessary proof to support his claim of faction in the ADC. ....
