The Colonial Pipeline problem is having a ripple effect into some parts of Florida as people worry about a gasoline shortage affecting the Sunshine State. It was concerning enough that Gov. Ron DeSantis late Tuesday issued a state of emergency and put the National Guard on alert.
In Marion County, the response to the pipeline crisis was mixed, according to a sample of some high-traffic areas Tuesday afternoon.
A quick check of six gas stations in southwest Ocala showed no unusual activity Tuesday afternoon. Likewise, stations on Maricamp Road/17th Street, between 36th Avenue to the east and State Road 200 to the west, had regular traffic and no lines at the pump. ....

Colonial Pipeline: Demand high at Ocala/Marion gas stations as worries spread

The high traffic level started about 10 a.m. There were two to three cars in each of the 12 lanes as of 3:30 p.m., with many more backed up on Southwest 38th Court trying to enter the station.

Lawson Armstrong is back home after a bone marrow transplant in Boston

Lawson and her mom touched down at Ocala International Airport at 2:46 p.m.
Lawson has been undergoing treatment at Boston Children s Hospital since Dec. 20 for an undiagnosed illness involving a bone marrow failure and virtually no platelet count, according to the family.
Immediately after the gleaming white and blue jet landed, Jessica Armstrong spirted Lawson across the tarmac to a black SUV where her husband, Sam, waited to take mother and child home.
It s surreal, Sam Armstrong said about the jet flight as the family reunited.
Sam Armstrong was at the hospital until about a month ago, when he returned to Ocala. ....
