Richard King tried to fathom just how 13 trees were snapped off around the perimeter. “I don’t want to say it was a tornado,” King said Wednesday. “It looks something like a blender got into the backyard, dipped in and dipped out.” “It had to be tremendous power,” gesturing toward a 3-foot-diameter tree broken off roughly 12 to 13 feet above the ground. A storm hit late Monday night and early Tuesday, downing trees in scores of locations throughout Oconto County. The county Sheriff’s Office received 35 reports of power lines downs from 12:15 a.m. Tuesday through that evening. ....
Monday, April 19 7:47 a.m. – Oconto man, 34, arrested by Oconto Falls Police after search warrant executed, 100 block of Scherer Avenue; charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of THC-second offense and possession drug paraphernalia referred to district attorney. 12:27 p.m. – Sobieski woman, 24, arrested on probation warrant at jail. 12:37 p.m. – theft from storage unit, 700 block of Hansen Avenue; taken were two anchors, six life vests, a trolling motor, toolbox and tools, boat seat cushions, ski and tow ropes, golf clubs and fishing tackle. 2:50 p.m. Gillett man, 33 arrested on probation warrant at jail. 10:54 p.m. – Sturgeon Bay man, 35, arrested on probation warrant after traffic offense, U.S. 41 and Frog Pond Road, Oconto. ....
Oconto man faces homicide charge in fatal overdose of Oconto Falls man OCONTO - An Oconto man was charged Wednesday with first-degree reckless homicide for allegedly providing the drugs used in a fatal overdose. Jason T. Lipp, 34, made his initial appearance in Oconto County Court, where Judge Michael T. Judge set a $75,000 cash bond. Lipp is accused of the Aug. 2 death of an Oconto Falls man, who is only identified by his initials in the criminal complaint. An autopsy found that the man died from mixed drug intoxication, including heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, duloxetine (which is used to treat depression, anxiety and nerve pain) and zolpidem (which is used to treat insomnia). ....
